Easy Does It Scrappy Quilt - Arkansas Cross Roads

1 min read

Arkansas Crossroads — a classic, scrappy favorite. This quilt uses Blocks 2B and 3F from my Easy Does It Scrap Management Block List.

I always start with a little research in Electric Quilt 8 using the BlockBase add‑on. Arkansas Crossroads was first published in 1941 in the Kansas City Star, and it’s still beloved because it’s simple, flexible, and comes together beautifully.

🧵 Quilt Layout & Fabric Requirements

I’m making the lap size version for this video. It finishes at 49" × 57" and uses a 6 × 7 layout for a total of 42 blocks.

You’ll need:

  • 336 print squares (2½")

  • 168 low‑volume squares (2½")

  • 168 half‑square triangles (2½")

The quilt is built from two blocks:

  • Block 2B: All‑print four‑patch

  • Block 3F: Half‑square‑triangle four‑patch with the HSTs pointing outward

These alternate and rotate throughout the layout to create that classic Arkansas Crossroads design.
