My favorite part of this scrappy quilt is that I can just sit down and randomly sew a low volume 2.5" square to a print 2.5" square. Each 8" finished block contains 4 of these 2 patches.. So a full/double size quilt will need 288.
After I get a good pile of the 2 patches done and pressed either open or to the darker fabric. I add a low volume or print 2.5" x 4.5" rectangle to the left hand side with the darker print on the bottom.
Assemble into blocks.
This quilt is 8x9 blocks so will take 72 total blocks. I also make this quilt smaller for a lap quilt in a 5x7 layout (35 blocks),
